Lossy and Lossless Graphic Files

When compressing a lossy file you will lose data when you compress the file down. A lossless file can be compressed and decompressed without losing any of the original data.

How do you attack the Multimedia Technology as Enabler of Today’s Media Program in the Industry?

Multimedia is a large part of why people use computers today. Word processors allow users to construct text documents, and media players allow sound and video to be viewed and listened to. Many forms of multimedia can also be created using the computer, such as with graphics through a graphics software program.  As a result of its breakthrough to the industrial world multimedia is not only used for entertainment purposes, which attract a lot of people to use the internet, but it also finds its application in various areas including, but not limited to, advertisements, art, education, entertainment, engineering, medicine, mathematics, business, and scientific research.

Here are the three top most areas which I believe multimedia plays a big role. In the commercial world exciting presentations are used to grab and keep attention in advertising. Business to business and interoffice communications are often developed by creative services firms for advanced multimedia presentations beyond simple slide shows to sell ideas or liven-up training. In the Industrial sector, multimedia is used as a way to help present information to shareholders, superiors and coworkers. Multimedia is also helpful for providing employee training, advertising and selling products all over the world via virtually unlimited web-based technology. In Education, multimedia is used to produce computer-based training courses and reference books like encyclopedia and almanacs. A computer-based training  lets the user go through a series of presentations, text about a particular topic, and associated illustrations in various information formats. Edutainment is an informal term used to describe combining education with entertainment, especially multimedia entertainment, and is now becoming a popular tool in keeping the interest of the students (young and old).

I’m glad that we have the chance to know all these things about multimedia and most especially to benefit from it, because it does not only give us entertainment and satisfaction at the same time but also it can be a means to help us achieve our dreams.

What is EDUTAINMENT?

Edutainment (also educational entertainment or entertainment-education) is a form of entertainment designed to educate as well as to amuse. Edutainment typically seeks to instruct or facilitate social interaction in its audience by embedding lessons in some familiar form of entertainment: Television programs, computer and video games, films, music, websites, multimedia software, and so on. Examples might be guided nature tours that entertain while educating participants on animal life and habitats, or a video game that teaches children conflict resolution or math or reading skills.

Here is an example of an Edutainment...

What is animation?

Animation is the illusion of movement created by quickly showing a series of images, each slightly different from the last.

This sounds confusing but the easiest way to understand animation is by making a flip book. All you need to do is make a little book and then draw a slightly different picture on each page. Then as you flip through the pages quickly, the pictures come to life.
Here are the steps in making your own flipbook. Just follow this link below.
